Achaians are an alien race that the characters talked about in the first season of Another Life. They are the primary antagonists of the second season.

Throughout the Series[]

Season 1[]

Information[]

They are a highly advanced race capable of traveling between solar systems across hundreds of light years. Their understandings of physics, science, AI, relativity, and quantum mechanics are above the standard at which Humans are currently capable of.

The initial motivations of the Achaians were unknown to the people of Earth or the worlds to which they sent their Artifacts to.

While it is revealed that they control 336 solar systems and worlds, it becomes rapidly clear, thanks to the Zakirian AI, that they seek to sow discord and destruction in the worlds they intend to conquer. A mass grave at the foot steps of the ruined city on Zakir indicates that the brain implant device plays a crucial role in their plans for conquest.

When under control of an implant, the individual in question begins to lose control of their thoughts and behaviors through negative reinforcement and conditioning. This eventually leads the individual to act against the best interests of their peers by sowing discord, manipulating others, and enflaming existing tensions to distract from their motivations.

It is currently unknown what the plans are for the worlds they've conquered and depopulated though it remains clear that any world touched by the Achaia are marked for destruction.

Season 2[]

In season two, it is revealed that the Achaians humanity have encountered are actually artificial lifeforms of some kind. It is speculated that they are AIs created by organic life; it is unknown if the original Achaians even still exist. As a result of their artificial nature, the Achaians are vulnerable to computer viruses, particularly ones based off of human DNA.

In D-Day an Achaian reveals disdain for, or even disgust of, organic lifeforms, describing humanity as "primitive". Additionally, the Achaian made comments about cleaning up the mess of all organic life which survives by consuming other life - including "cleaning up the mess" of its creators. Thus, it can be concluded that the primary motivation of Achaians is not material extraction but rather the eradication of organic life, especially life that has attained interstellar travel capability, in a misHHguided attempt to protect other less advanced organic life.
